Day 21 – Losing something on the Camino #1
About 2 miles before coming into Leon, I pass a shoe on the side of the Camino. I thought about picking it up but then I thought “well how would I ever connect with the owner”? What would I do with the shoe after carrying it for awhile. I left the shoe and moved on. About a 1/2 mile later I stopped and had a group walk up behind me with a guy carrying the shoe on the end of his hiking pole. He has his pole up in the air so the shoe was pretty obvious. I said “oh good job picking up the shoe”. About an hour later coming into Leon I heard a gal ahead of me scream. I was about a 1/2 block behind her and when I came around the corner there was the group with the guy-pole-shoe and they were all laughing. 2 of them were coming at me with phones to take photos. They said, “We found the guy with the missing shoe; will you take our picture?” I said, “Absolutely and wait while I take a picture for myself.” So look for a photo of a group of people with a shoe in the air on the end of a walking stick. The shoe owner is the guy in the rust colored shorts!
Apparently he got into Leon the evening before and noticed his missing shoe. Apparently he was stalking out the spot where pilgrims come into the city and saw his shoe on the pole! Everyone was so happy the shoe owner was reunited with his shoe!
Great story! Love this! 😃 Synchronicity and our connections are real!
Who would have guessed the shoe owner would find his shoe? So funny!
