Day 10 – Walking to Belorado
I am now 2 days behind in uploading pictures but the internet in this place is very spotty. So this update might be the only thing I can post. Today’s walk was “easy” but someone please tell that to my left foot. It is sore. . . not from blisters for which I am grateful but the ball of my foot is sore; really sore. Too much pounding. I’m thinking the place I arrive on Saturday is a larger city so I am looking for a hiking store. I’m seeking a jelly sole insert for my left foot.
So I never thought I’d say this but I like uphill climbs. I do not like downhill momentums. I guess that is true for all as the downhills are hard on your knees. I appreciate my body parts more now that they hurt. . . I appreciate them for all the years of not having pain. I hope I will return to that condition post-Camino. I feel like a crippled old woman. I see some of these pilgrims walking around the villages in the evenings and they are not hobbling like I am. Mind you this is on the evenings I am not horizontal on my bed. Dinner last night was 2 protein bars and a bag of potato chips. Even though dinner was included I had to walk “5 minutes” to the restaurant, I decided “Nada!” The more I am off my feet at the end of the day, the better. Tomorrow is my longest day so far. . . 18 miles. I am trying to psyche myself up for it. I hope to get on the path by 8:00.
Did I tell you my left foot is really sore?
I think I am regretting taking out 2 rest days that my provider originally put in my schedule. Arrogance you might think “I don’t need them” but that wasn’t it for me. I’m away from home for 5 weeks on this trip. I figured I would want to get home. The other thought was “What if I don’t want to start again after a day of rest.” I’m kind of stuck on the inertia thing. . . a body stays in motion . . . I am learning this each morning I start out again and each time I stop and have to start again. I am a rookie at this and it shows. I’ve done some things right but there are other things I would do differently. I am hoping about 15 days into this my body will come to life. I’ll take any prayers you all have!
Coming off the 3 tough posts about burdens I figured you needed a story to make you laugh. I can’t believe I am telling this story but here it goes. I bought a pee funnel. Don’t even ask what a pee funnel is. Clearly it is something no guy would ever have to buy. I felt like a guy about day 4 of the trip. I had to go and I didn’t want to walk to find a place. No one was around and there was a tree near by. I get my little funnel out and use it! Yup, right there in the open. But hey, my pants are still up around my waist and as long as I keep this funnel snug to my bottom, there won’t be any leakage. BUT, the darn thing was too horizontal so it wasn’t emptying out. So I did what I’ve seen guys do, give it a shake. Get that liquid to fall to the ground. I tell ya, I felt like a guy peeing next to a tree and wiggling it for all the liquid to escape. OMG, can you believe I am telling you this?! There will be no pictures for this event!
Oh to walk for another day!
Sore foot: left
Blisters: nothing new
Wine: great!
Happy: yes
Embarrassed: Nope; you all are too far away for me to be embarrassed!
You got this and I will say a prayer for you
Trish,
You are making me laugh. So so proud of you…keep up the good work. Chuck and I watched The Way last night. I can now picture what you are experiencing.Excellent movie. Just do you know that Tami does not have the blog so my words are sent through her also. I’ve been sharing your blogs with her. She is so amazed with your stories. 🤗

Thanks Debbie. Glad you are laughing. Yes that movie is awesome! If Tami has internet access she can get to the blog. I know it’s not pretty but it doesn’t tell the stories!
Sorry I sent it twice.
Hey Trish,
Amazon Prime has everything. How about ordering the jelly sole insert from them. Hope this puts a smile on your face. You can do it!!!! ☺️🤗
Hi Sherry – yeah I thought of that but I got them today at the town I walked to. Yay!!!
I love joining you in your journey via your posts. Sending you so many prayers ❤️
Thank you Kathy! I appreciate you joining me on this journey.
Sending prayers. Love the posts.❤️❤️
You got this Trish. Take your time and Im thinking positively that the next town has those gel pads.
I agree with you those downhills are killers on the knees. Found that out in a hike in NZ as I watched joggers on the same hike doing it 3 times! Ugg!!! Loved your funnel stop. A girl has to do what a girl’s got to do!!!
