Day 20 – Do you bask or worry?

Walking the Meseta to Mansilla de las Mulas

Today was my best day physically!  I almost didn’t feel my left heel blister and my leg is feeling better and better.  The Meseta doesn’t have the most exciting terrain.  This is the middle part of the Camino along this route and it’s the mental part of the path.  The first part from St. Jean (France) to Burgos is the body part of the path.  I had my ailments in the body section but they seemed to continue into the mental part.  Mental goes from Burgos to Astorga which I arrive at on Wednesday, 5/7.  I was talking to my sister and she said my physical ailments seemed to have contributed to where and what I am in thinking about on my Camino trip this week so I am in the mental game thinking about my physical body.  I’ll add a few pictures of the Meseta from today & yesterday.

I walked alone almost all day today so I had plenty of time to think.  I was chewing on my core issue of feeling like I never really fit in or belong.  I’m working on this by thinking about God and how He is all loving.  God is okay with me being who I am.  Gee, can’t I be okay with who I am?  I thought about this a lot today and also said many times “I am a beloved child of God.”  The truth is, we all are beloved children of God.  I’m trying to get my arms around this by basking in these thoughts.  In my regular life, I never “bask” in any thoughts.  I can tell you I might “worry” about some tough circumstance before me but I never “bask”.

Bask – to lie in or be exposed to a pleasant warmth; to enjoy a pleasant situation.

Okay how many people have ever basked?  If you have, I want to hear about it as it is a unique experience for me.  I’d like to learn how others do this.

I don’t even need to ask how many people worry.  We are now talking about positive energy (basking) vs. negative energy (worrying).  We all like to hang with positive people.  So let’s all become people who bask!

I am a beloved child of God.

God is okay with me.  I am okay with me.

God made me and He makes amazing creations.

I am making awesome progress walking the Camino!

In 14 days I will be in Santiago!!

I am working on accomplishing one of my largest goals!!

I’m rocking it.

Traumatized toes: 2 (might have them the entire way)

New blisters: 0

Desire for pizza: yup

Looking forward to walking still even after 20 days: yes

Practice basking: today, tomorrow and beyond

Buen Camino

You are amazing Trish. As I read your blog, I keep thinking of a song sung by Hillsong.

You can look it up on utube, it will get in your head in a wonderful way. We actually sang it in church this morning🥰

Who You Say I Am —-Lyrics
    [Verse 1]
Who am I that the highest King
    Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
    Oh His love for me
    Oh His love for me

    [Chorus]
    Who the Son sets free
    Oh is free indeed
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am

    [Verse 2]
Free at last, He has ransomed me
    His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
    Jesus died for me
    Yes He died for me

    [Chorus]
    Who the Son sets free
    Oh is free indeed
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am
    In my Father’s house
    There’s a place for me
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am

    [Bridge]
    I am chosen, not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me, not against me
I am who You say I am
    I am chosen, not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me, not against me
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am

    [Chorus]
    Who the Son sets free
    Oh is free indeed
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am
    In my Father’s house
    There’s a place for me
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am
    In my Father’s house
    There’s a place for me
    I’m a child of God
    Yes I am

Keep going Trish, you are not alone❤️
