Day 22 – The pain is back; got another blister!

Walking from Leon to Mazarife

So I walked 15 miles today and I am very sore.  The little blister on my left heel seemed to demand attention today as I walked.  I had a situation with my accommodations where they were another 6 miles down the road from my 15 mile destination.  This happens sometimes when they run out of space in some of these small towns.  I knew this and could do one of two things: call from a bar in the original location to have my provider come get me and take me to where I am staying or walk the extra distance.  I decided to listen to my body to determine what I was going to do.  I walked the 15 miles and called for the ride.  My left foot is not happy which is a bummer.  I can do one of two things tomorrow. . . have them drive me back to the original town so I can begin my walk there or “skip” the 6 miles and start walking from where I am staying.  I’ve already decided to skip the 6 miles.  I need some TLC for my foot and am trying to stay off of it as best I can.  Already popped the ibuprofen and will be taking a hot shower soon.  The hot water soak for my foot helped a little bit and I will soak it again.  Note to all future pilgrims: bring Epsom salts with you should you walk the Camino.  Wish I had some!

Keep on listening to what your body tells you. Nobody is keeping track of those missing miles. You are definitely amazing in my book ! I noticed the 9 toe nails So you are missing one ?

Yes. Now that toe is calming down so it’s a good thing. Now I wish the other traumatized toe would lose it’s nail!

I would not have walked the extra six miles either. Good luck as you continue your journey.

Good choice! Important to listen to your body and remind yourself it’s about the journey. I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying your experiences and not rushing through. Hope your blister gets better quickly!
