Day 25 – Releasing the burdens!
This was a special day. . . one that I dreamed of for years each time I thought of walking the Camino. You’ve seen my rock and you know the burdens I am releasing. I know this post is coming 8+ hours later than usual but I was just too tired to do a post last night (it is the morning of Day 26 as I write this). I had to walk up hill for about 3 hours before getting to the cross. It is at the highest point on this Camino route. “Closest to God” I thought after learning this but then I thought, God is everywhere. . . I carry Him in my heart.
Anyway, I had a few friends that were also at the cross with me. Frank is one of them, he is from Minneapolis, MN. He took the many pictures of me this day. This day was really long for me. The climb down took all afternoon and it was kind of treacherous. I did fall at one point as the rocks were so slippery. It rained all afternoon. I fell on my bum as the English would say. A good place to fall if you are going down. I am fine. . . minor bruise. This was my third (and hopefully final) fall while on the Camino.
Look for the photos I post with my rock and then as it sits at the base of the cross. I said a few prayers after releasing it. I didn’t want to leave the site but I had to as I had a long walk downhill ahead of me.
